New RMI Instructor

Remote Medicine Ireland is pleased to announce that we have a new potential instructor Maria O'Connor. She joins us from County Cork but is originally from Ballybunion area of North Kerry.

Maria O'Connor is a pharmacist based in Cork City. She graduated in 2008 from University College Cork with a BPHARM (Hons) and completed her pre-registration in Community Pharmacy in 2009. Maria’s interest in first aid started in the UCC Motorcycle Club where her involvement in a high risk past-time made her realize just how vital first aid skills are.

In 2010, a collie pup appeared in Maria’s life that changed her whole outlook. Life with a smart dog presented a whole new challenge to Maria and she began volunteering with Irish Search Dogs, a search and rescue charity dedicated to training and deploying dogs to search for missing people in Ireland. Currently, Maria is a trainee dog handler with ISD. Maria’s training with ISD sparked her interest in remote medicine and in August 2012 she completed her WEFR training with RMI. When she isn’t training with Irish Search Dogs, Maria can be found hill-walking, horse-riding or playing airsoft.
